  CLI YOUTH MISSION

Mission Statement:
Share Christ with kids in prison
through books, Bibles and other Christian materials

Why it is important to reach out to kids in prison:

  • Approximately 107,000 youth are incarcerated on any given day in the U.S. 1
  • Ages range between 7 and 17, depending on the particular state.
  • Need of a Savior from sins (Romans 3:23).
  • 50 to 75 percent of adolescents who have spent time in juvenile detention centers are incarcerated later in life.
  • Suicide in juvenile detention facilities is more than four times as likely as adolescent suicide overall.
  • The majority of females in the juvenile justice system report experiencing physical, sexual, or emotional victimization. Many girls first enter the system as runaways or for other status offenses (offenses not considered illegal for adults), and cite abuse from home as one of the main reasons for leaving. Once in the system, they often do not receive adequate treatment. 2
  • Confined and separated from families or caregivers is traumatic. Depression, anxiety, and hopelessness can be real companions of these youth. Also, some have mental problems and their medical needs are not being met.

What could possibly make a difference in these lives?

The gospel, the good news of Jesus Christ!

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, NIV Romans 5:1

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. NIV Romans 5:5

The CLI Youth Mission sends books, Bibles and other Christian materials free of charge to prison or detention chaplains. In this way, the youth have the freedom to read (24/7) about God and to make a personal decision to follow Christ. The books are stamped with the CLI address so they can write to us. Volunteers lovingly respond to every letter and connect the youth to free Bible correspondence studies.

1. Collect and send interesting and good quality Christian books, Bibles, DVDs and CDs to CLI. Even one good book can save a youth! The age range is between 7 and 17.

2. Make a financial donation. CLI does not charge for any services and needs cash gifts for ongoing expenses.

Credit Card - You can make a donation of any amount right now through your VISA/MC card or mail your check to CLI, PO Box 97095, Raleigh, NC 27624.

3. Engage in social networking, start a youth mission club or a prayer group. Partner with the CLI Youth Mission by making an ongoing commitment with your Christian friends to further our mission. Yes, you can make a difference and be an instrument of change!
