How Spiritual Truth Leads to God
Truth #1: God Loves You
God loves you and wants you to know Him personally now and forever.
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” Genesis 1:27
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
Truth #2: God is Holy
God is holy (without sin) and people are sinful. Sin separates us from God. The Bible which is, and also claims to be God’s communication to mankind says:
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“But your iniquities have separated you from God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear.” Isaiah 59:2
We were created with free will to choose God’s way or our own way. We may actively rebel against God by murder, rape, theft, slander etc. or and we may passively rebel by being prideful, selfish, unforgiving, uncaring etc. Indifference to or failure to learn God’s law is still sin. True purpose of completeness in Him is blocked.
Truth #3: Good Works do Not Excuse or Cover Sin
Giving money to the poor or trying to be kind to your enemies cannot make up or pay for any of your sins.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
Truth #4: God Will Judge Our Wrongdoing
God is righteous and just. He set up requirements for us to obey. Whoever disobeys the law is unrighteous and owes a penalty for his or her sins. If we do nothing or if we try to pay the penalty ourselves, we are condemned to spend eternity in punishment. The Bible describes punishment after our physical bodies have died.
“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” Matthew 25:46
How do you attain righteousness and pay for your sins?
Truth #5: Jesus Christ
Jesus is God’s Son, born of the Virgin Mary about 2,000 years ago, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Being fully God and fully man, Jesus obeyed God perfectly and completely met His requirements (the law) for us. He became our righteousness. Sinless Jesus died on the cross and shed His blood to pay the penalty for our sins. He was buried and after three days rose from the dead. God did not have to make a way for anyone to be saved but He did. This is God’s only and perfect plan to bring you into a relationship with Him now and eternally.
“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18
“But also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” Romans 4:24-25
Truth #6: Trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (Leader of your life)
Christ died for everyone. However, only those who individually accept the free gift (payment of their sins) and personally invite Jesus into their life, into their heart, will know God. No one can accept the gift of salvation for you. You must place your faith in Jesus. Faith is trusting and believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
“Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12
“Remember to repent of your sins; ask God to forgive you and turn away from evil. Ask Jesus to come into your life to love and mold you. You will receive help from the Holy Spirit.” John 14:26
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” Acts 3:19
“But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26
Truth #7: Pray to God
Lord Jesus, You are the Son of God and lived a perfect life on earth and then died for my sins. I have not obeyed God and need Your righteousness and forgiveness. Right now, I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I receive You as my personal Lord and Savior. I want God’s plan for my life. I will follow You and obey You in all that I do. Come Holy Spirit and be my counselor and guide. Thank You for saving me Father and making me Your child. Amen.
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
“Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.&rsquo” Acts 2:38
