Author Dinner Fundraiser
This is an annual banquet event held in Raleigh. We have a published Christian author as a guest speaker and inmate testimonies. The event is usually in October and we prefer to have our team in place by May of that year. Download a list of volunteer positions.
Inmate Correspondence
Letter Ministers: We personally answer every letter that we receive from inmates. Mature Christians read the letters and respond in a professional, yet loving way. You will encourage with Scripture and mentor the inmate in a godly fashion. Letters are received handwritten but our response is typed from a computer and saved. This is NOT a pen pal activity.
CLI Leadership Bible Study: We offer a free correspondence Bible Study to help inmates influence the ideas, opinions and actions of others for Jesus Christ. Mature Christians review the lessons with an answer key and write appropriate comments. After the lesson is reviewed, it is mailed back to the inmate with the new lesson.
Quarterly Newsletter
Preparing for Mailing: Help label envelopes and insert newsletter into envelopes.
Prayer Warrior
Join us each Monday at 11AM-Noon. The staff prays for God’s work through CLI with praises, thanksgiving and requests. Weekly commitment of one hour.
Social Networking
We are interested in engaging volunteers who have expertise in social networking such as facebook, twitter and blogs. You would meet with CLI staff and discuss objectives and goals of social networking for CLI. You will be responsible for teaching some of staff how to use the internet to glorify God and to further CLI’s mission.
Shipping Department
Counting, Reviewing, and Sorting: CLI receives a large variety of Christian and some non Christian materials that must be counted for acknowledgment letters, reviewed for basic Christian tenets and sorted for type and gender specifics. If you read many Christian books you may be a good candidate.
Stamping: Each book and Bible that is approved for shipping is stamped with our address. This allows the inmate to write to us and received a personal reply. Youth ages 11 and up may enjoy this activity as well as adults.
Packing: After sorting and stamping, the books and materials are packed in shipping boxes. This does require some lifting and light physical labor. The boxes are placed on a handcart and taken outside our offices for the appropriate carrier to pick up.
